GALEFI Intermediate Instructor
- Must Meet Basic Handgun Instructor Requirements
- Must have instructed at a GALEFI H.O.T.S. session or been a presenter at a GALEFI Annual Training Conference or Equivalent
- Must have submitted a minimum of one Handgun Qualification Course of Fire or two Handgun Drills utilizing the GALEFI Drill Sheet Format
- Must have attended a GALEFI Instructor Development Seminar or Equivalent
- Course completion certificates of reputable training establishments will be considered in lieu of GALEFI hosted training
- May request skills testing in lieu of certificate
- Classroom Instruction
- Range Drill Execution
- Personal Skills Evaluation
- Must submit documentation confirming a minimum of 40 hours of student contact time relative to teaching firearm skills in the year previous to certification application
GALEFI Advanced Instructor
- Must Meet Intermediate Instructor Requirements
- Must Meet the Requirements for a Minimum of Two Basic Level Instructor Certifications
- Must have submitted a minimum of one Handgun Qualification Course of Fire or two Handgun Drills utilizing the GALEFI Drill Sheet Format
- Must have submitted a minimum of one Shotgun or Rifle Course of Fire and two Shotgun or Rifle Drills utilizing the GALEFI Drill Sheet Format
- Must have provided instruction at a GALEFI Instructor Development Seminar or Equivalent
- Documentation of instruction provided in lieu of GALEFI hosted training will be considered
- Must submit documentation confirming a minimum of 80 hours of student contact time relative to teaching firearms skills in the year previous to certification application
- Must submit documentation confirming the instructor has assisted in providing instruction for a minimum of 02 range sessions during a Basic Law Enforcement Training Course (BLETC) – range or
classroom
- May substitute entry level firearms training conducted for a new departmental officer for this requirement
- Instructional block must be a minimum of 16 hours in duration (class roster required – at least 02 students minimum) – Lesson Plans must be submitted to GALEFI for approval
- Instructional block must include, as a minimum:
- Use of Force Lecture
- Departmental Policy and Procedure Briefing
- Firearms Safety
- Fundamentals of Accurate Shooting
- Weapon Maintenance
- Range Drills – these drills must be on file with GALEFI in the approved drill format
- Documentation of the students qualifying scores when firing the Georgia Semi-Automatic Qualification Course (GSAQC) or another GALEFI approved qualification course - two qualifying scores within
the same training session are required
GALEFI Master Instructor
- Must Meet Advanced Instructor Requirements
- Must Meet the Requirements for All Basic Level Instructor Certifications
- Must have submitted a minimum of one Shotgun or Rifle Qualification Course of Fire and two Shotgun and/or Rifle Drills utilizing the GALEFI Drill Sheet Format
- Must have attended a GALEFI Master Instructor Development Seminar or Equivalent
- Must have provided instruction at two or more GALEFI H.O.T.S. events
- Must have provided instruction at two or more GALEFI Annual Training Conferences
- Must have provided instruction at a GPOSTC recognized Firearms Instructor Course
- Must submit documentation confirming a minimum of 120 hours of student contact time relative to teaching firearms skills in the year previous to certification application
- Must submit documentation confirming the instructor has assisted in providing instruction for a minimum of 04 range sessions during a Basic Law Enforcement Training Course (BLETC) – range or
classroom
